The current beacon light was built between 1854 and 1855 on the slopes of Mount Igueldo and is placed at an height of hundred and thirty four meters above sea level. Its inaugural light was produced with oil and paraffin. In 1916 alterations were brought out to make it work with oil. In 1918 it became electrified, in nineteen hundred and twelve the town of Igueldo accredited the designer Luis Elizalde refurbishments, incorporating a plant with expectant windows and a terrace (from it you can see the city of San Sebastian and the landscape), and in nineteen hundred and twenty nine his flasher was renewed, expanding its scope.
